Wow! Final week here together.
If you are reading this – THANK YOU.
Thank you for being a part of this course, for your participation and for coming along for this journey together. But most of all thank you for taking an interest in these ideas and engaging with a practice that will have a positive ripple around you for the rest of your life.
This week we introduce one final technique: Cultivating Compassion.
This practice takes a similar form to loving-kindness. We start with ourselves and progressively work outwards in wider and wider circles. Eventually encompassing all beings everywhere.
However where loving-kindness is wishing others well, compassion is wishing the end of other’s pain/suffering.
This practice is incredibly grounding because it trains us to fully engage with, and be present with, the difficult and challenging things we or someone or everyone are going through. It has a tone of deep care and attention.
The first step is to feel and sense what is going on with empathy, and then to transform that empathy into a powerful wish/intention that the pain come to an end. In this way we can be clear minded and present with pain (our own and the pain of others) without becoming overwhelmed, despairing or experiencing ’empathy burnout’.
This bring us to the end of the course!
At this point you might be wondering where to start, or how to structure your practice. The video below offers some reflections on this. In general, show up! and be curious!
Finally, stay in touch! We would love to hear from you in the future, and if you have any questions about practice our doors are always open. We run other courses and are always doing meditation related things, if you woud like to hear about those drop your email in the form on this website or drop us an email directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
With love and gratitude,
Lars & Mark
